1/4teaspoonground cinnamon (optional for extra warmth)
Instructions
Start by thoroughly washing the baby carrots. If you’re using regular carrots, peel them and cut them into sticks about 1/4 inch thick to ensure even cooking.
In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat until it becomes bubbly, coating the bottom of the skillet.
Add the prepared carrots to the skillet. Sauté them for approximately 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften and become vibrant in color.
Drizzle the pure maple syrup over the sautéed carrots. Sprinkle in the fresh thyme, salt, pepper, and cinnamon if desired. Stir everything together to ensure all the carrots are beautifully coated in the sweet maple glaze.
Lower the heat to a gentle simmer and cover the skillet with a lid. Allow the carrots to cook for an additional 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until they reach a tender texture and the glaze has thickened to a syrupy consistency.
Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the fresh lemon juice, which will brighten up the flavors beautifully.
Taste the glazed carrots and adjust seasoning with additional salt or pepper if needed.
Notes
Plate the warm maple-glazed carrots in an attractive decorative bowl. Drizzle with extra maple syrup for added shine and flavor, and garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme.
