2largeapples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), cored and sliced into fry-shaped pieces
1cupall-purpose flour
2largeeggs, beaten until smooth
1cuppanko breadcrumbs
1teaspoonground cinnamon
1teaspoongranulated sugar
0.5teaspoonsea salt
to tastecooking spray
Instructions
Start by preheating your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) to prepare it for cooking.
Create a breading station using three shallow bowls: fill one with all-purpose flour, the second with the beaten eggs, and the third with panko breadcrumbs combined with cinnamon, sugar, and salt.
Take each apple fry and first dip it into the bowl of flour, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated. Gently shake off any excess flour.
Next, transfer the floured apple fry into the bowl with the beaten eggs, letting any extra egg mixture drip back into the bowl.
Finally, roll the egg-coated apple fry in the panko breadcrumb mixture, pressing down slightly to ensure the crumbs stick well to the fruit.
Arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray the tops of the fries with cooking spray.
Air fry the apple fries for 12-15 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning.
Once cooked, carefully remove the apple fries from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm on a colorful plate, lightly dusted with powdered sugar and paired with caramel or chocolate sauce.
